For these brave deeds, the family was awarded a crest by the monarchy, bearing the motto “Sine Metu” or in Latin, “without fear”. So it seems that as his forefathers were “Sine Metu” in their noble deeds, so John Jameson was “Sine Metu” in the building of his ambitious dream.
This “Sine Metu” motto adorns each bottle of Jameson Irish whiskey to this day and is a reminder of the company’s ongoing adherence to the standards of excellence conceived by John Jameson himself.
