Tripled Distilled

The wash is now ready for the next stage of the manufacturing process, which is distillation.

During this process, the wash is transferred from large copper vessels – pot stills – and is heated until most of the alcohol has vaporised. This vapour is then cooled by being passed through a long network of copper piping and, as a result condenses into a liquid which is in turn transferred to a vat.

One of the things that distinguishes most modern Irish whiskeys – including John Jameson & Son - from their Scotch counterparts is that it has been triple distilled. As mentioned, not all whiskeys in Ireland have been triple distilled but the majority have been.
