Cocktail of the Month

Ahoy! Fresh Twist On The Old Fashioned Ahead 

Adam Mygrad from Sweden brings us December’s cocktail of the month, ‘The Sea in Between’. We’re sailing across the North Sea to find out what it’s all about. Step on board for the voyage, there’s smooth seas and delicious drinks ahead, Arrr.

The Cocktail

Adam makes his drinks 14 stories up, in TAK bar, which specialises in Nordic-Japanese food. With the innovation of the country that brought you IKEA and precision of the Japanese, we imagine TAK is the perfect environment for Adam to craft his cocktails in.

Overlooking the meandering rivers of the Baltic Sea, with a salty breeze in the air, we can see where Adam got the inspiration to use our Jameson Seaweed Bitters. Adam describes the drink as a “Slightly sour and a fresh twist on an Irish old-fashioned” and the good news is, it’s relatively straightforward to make at home.

  • 60ml Jameson Black Barrel
  • 8ml Buckthorn Shrub (Champagne vineagar, Buckthorn, Sugar)
  • 6 dashes Jameson Seaweed Bitters
  • Samphire grass to garnish
  • Add 50 ml of Jameson black barrel, 8ml Buckthorn Shrub and 6 dashes of the seaweed bitters in a stirring glass.
  • Add lots of ice and stir.
  • Pour the drink into a chilled rocks glass with a big clear ice cube.
  • Finish off with some samphire grass inside the glass as garnish and snack.

Zutaten

Zubereitung

The Bartender

We asked Adam for an interesting fact about himself and he told us, “I was born dead”. The Nordic humour may be lost on us, but the tasty drink definitely isn’t. It’s safe to say, there’ll be no mutiny in TAK with Adam serving up drinks like this.
