Halloween the Jameson way

Many traditions and people from around the world can trace their roots back to Ireland. From St. Patrick’s Day to Barrack Obama, to that guy in the Irish bar claiming his great grandad was an “O’Haggoorty”. When it comes to Halloween though, and it’s just around the corner, we can happily claim it as one of our own.

It originated as a Celtic festival that was celebrated centuries ago. We had a different name for it back then though, ‘Samhain’, and there were no Jack O’ Lanterns or “Trick or Treating” to be seen either. The festivities involved lighting bonfires and wearing costumes to ward off spirits, who would rise from the dead to mark the start of the long dark winter. Fortunately, we’ve got a much more approachable spirit of our own.

A Halloween drink recipe, so simple it's scary.

Although not as extravagant as our little celebration in March, Halloween is no doubt a day (and night) to be celebrated. So, how can you celebrate it like the Irish? Round up your friends and the worst costumes you can find, fill a bowl of our Jameson recipe below and be thankful that there’s some spirits that are always welcomed.

All you have to do is mix mint tea, Jameson Irish Whiskey, lime juice and fresh cranberries togethers. Serve up to 12 people. So simple it’s frightening.
