Meet Our Brewery Partners and Their Neighborhoods

As long as we can remember, whiskey and beer have lived behind the bar together. To celebrate this lasting kinship, Jameson has partnered with 16 craft breweries from across the nation to be part of our Drinking Buddies program.

All of these unique breweries play an important role in shaping the communities where they operate and have created a unique Jameson-aged beer. Explore more about each to learn what they love about their neighborhood, and how their beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition.

4 Hands Brewing Co.

LaSalle Park - St. Louis, MO

Jameson-aged Beer: Don Draper
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Imperial Red Ale

“LaSalle park is a beautiful city neighborhood nestled between Soulard and Busch Station. It’s a neighborhood that is really quite hidden from the public eye but extremely beautiful. The building that is now home to 4 Hands Brewing Company sat quiet for over five years before we brought a new and exciting life to it.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“We are extremely excited to work with Jameson! We are both the bartender’s best friend!

We love whiskey. We love beer, but we especially love barrel aged beer with a side car of whiskey! We are a pretty stout heavy portfolio. Caskmates pairs perfectly with our Chocolate Milk Stout as well as our Madagascar Barrel Aged Stout.”

Founder & President, 4 Hands Brewing Co.

Bale Breaker

Yakima, WA

Bale Breaker Brewing Company

Yakima, WA

Jameson-aged Beer: The Ossifier
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Barrel-aged IPA

“Bale Breaker is one of the only commercial breweries on a commercial hop farm. We built here because our family has been growing hops in the Yakima Valley since 1932! Our dad always said that when you grow up on a hop farm, hops are in your DNA. And we think that’s true.

The Yakima Valley is a beautiful place — 200 days of sunshine, access to mountains and rivers, and of course, incredible farmland to grow America’s hops. Thanks to our proximity to the hop fields, we are able to select the best hops for our beers and that care and freshness comes to life in every barrel of beer we make.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“The beautifully layered malt bill is not only enhanced by time spent aging in Jameson barrels, but the dry hops were carefully chosen to pair with the aromatics of the whisky. “

The Black Abbey Brewing Company

Nashville, TN

The Black Abbey Brewing Company

Nashville, TN

Jameson-aged Beer: Lorica Special
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Belgian-style Dubbel

“Nashville is a growing, vibrant community; diverse and interesting; full of personality, energy, and history. Our neighborhood is on the south side of town used to be full of military barracks.

We love our neighborhood because it is an industrial space bracketed amongst residential communities. Our brewery taproom is called Fellowship Hall because we wanted folks to have a place to go and enjoy great beer and conversation, listen to music, play games and talk to each other. [It] is modeled after a German beerhall combined with a monastery chapter house. Long farmhouse tables force folks to sit next to people they maybe didn’t know before they walked in the door.

Fellowship Hall brings Nashville to life by reflecting our love for conversation, music, and the comfort of good fellowship.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“When we first started talking and tasting through Black Abbey beers and pairing them with Caskmates, we were drawn to The Special, our Belgian-style Dubbel. While The Rose, our Belgian-style Blonde Ale, is our top seller, we feel that The Special is the most accurate representation of our brand. The Special is rich and malty, broad-shouldered and robust with hints of orange peel, stone fruit, and candy sugar in the finish, but what most people notice immediately is the banana/clove aromatic. That aroma closely aligns with common tasting notes for Caskmates as well. We felt it was a perfect match.”

Founder, The Black Abbey Brewing Company

Big Dog's Brewing Company

Las Vegas, NV

Big Dog's Brewing Company

Las Vegas, NV

Jameson-aged Beer: Man’s Best Friend
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Belgian Dark Strong

“Our Brewery is part of the oldest brewing company in Las Vegas, so staying relevant is important. We bring our neighborhood alive through four festivals every year. We live and breathe Las Vegas.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“Man’s Best Friend has several notes that complement the Caskmates Stout Edition. Our beer will give notes of wood and barrel, along with caramel, dark fruit, banana, and bread. All of these pair well with the barrel, stone fruit, cocoa, butterscotch, and spice found in the Caskmates Stout Edition.”

David Pascual

Head Brewer, Big Dog's Brewing Company

Captain Lawrence Brewing

Elmsford, NY

Captain Lawrence Brewing

Elmsford, NY

Jameson-aged Beer: Transatlantic Red
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Imperial Red Ale

“The brewery is an extension of the place I grew up—Westchester NY. I was born here, the brewery was born here, and we have continued to expand from our home base in Elmsford. We are a meeting place, an event space, and a place for the community to gather and enjoy life.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout edition?

“We have created a beer that takes the spirit of the Jameson barrel and combines it with a malty ale bursting the hop character—it complements the rich toffee notes of the Caskmates and accentuates some of the chocolate notes of the whiskey.”

Fat Head's Brewery

Middleburg Heights - Cleveland, OH

Jameson-aged Beer: Coco Loco Leprechaun
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Imperial Coconut Stout

“Middleburg heights has the best fans. They come from everywhere to get here. We’re not exactly easy to find, but they keep finding their way over here!

The neighborhood our brewpub is in is fantastic. The neighborhood our brewpub is in is fantastic. We have a wall of pictures that people have taken all over the world wearing Fat Heads’ shirts. It makes the community feel like a part of what we are doing.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“We made a coconut stout at the brewery for the barrels we received this year. We wanted to make a product that went well with the Jameson characteristics but add a fun element, and that is why we introduced the coconut.”

Fulton

North Loop - Minneapolis, MN

Jameson-aged Beer: Whiskey, War & Peace
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Imperial Coffee Stout

“When we built our brewery in the North Loop, it wasn't exactly the most desirable neighborhood in Minneapolis, but it had character and we were lucky enough to find a building that was perfect for a startup brewery. Today the neighborhood is the hottest destination in the city, and we feel lucky to be established in the heart of it.”

Ryan Petz

CEO and Co-Founder, Fulton

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“Our balance. Nothing too bitter, nothing too sweet, just the perfect harmony of flavors. With a whiskey as rounded out as Caskmates, you want a beer that has the same quality. Lucky for us, Fulton Beers have that in spades.”

Ben Flattum

Chain and Key-Accounts Manager, Fulton

Green Flash Brewing Co.

Mira Mesa - San Diego, CA

Green Flash Brewing Co.

Mira Mesa - San Diego, CA

Jameson-aged Beer: Golden God
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Blonde Ale

“Mike & Lisa Hinkley started Green Flash back in 2002 after running a pub where they were introduced to craft beer. They fell in love with the idea of having their own beer that friends and neighbors could buy on the shelves. The thing that quickly set Green Flash apart, is the brewery’s commitment to crafting style-defining, flavorful, and high-quality beers that have set the benchmark within the industry.

We are based in San Diego, which some people call the craft beer capital of the U.S. Our brewery is located in an industrial area, which over the years has become a hot spot for breweries. Locals affectionately call it “Beeramar” or “Beeramesa.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“The Jameson Caskmates Stout edition is very smooth, and we think it pairs perfectly with the piney and floral notes of our West Coast IPA.”

Pat Korn

Barrel Master, Green Flash Brewing Co.

Harpoon Brewery

Seaport - Boston, MA & Windsor, VT

Harpoon Brewery

Seaport - Boston, MA & Windsor, VT

Jameson-aged Beer: Barrel-aged Harpoon Ale
Jameson-aged Beer Style: India Pale Ale

“Unlike many of the brewers who opened their doors in the early 80s (and there were only a few!), we didn’t start out as homebrewers. Harpoon was started in 1986 by three friends who loved beer. They decided to build a brewery so that they could brew the beer that they wanted to drink, and invite their friends to the brewery to drink it with them.

We have breweries in Boston, MA and Windsor, VT. We love both our locations and we aim to showcase our New England roots, from the reclaimed Vermont butternut in our bar and tables in the Beer Hall to the fire pit and Adirondack chairs along the banks of the Connecticut River.

In Boston, we are situated In the Marine Industrial Park on the edge of the Seaport, which means we combine the durability of a fully operational commercial brewery with a visitor experience that is authentic and welcoming for tourists and regulars alike.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“Harpoon IPA is a classic, well-rounded IPA that both complements the sweetness of the Stout Edition with a malty backbone, and counterbalances that same whiskey sweetness with a crisp hop bitterness.”

Chris Bonacci

VP of Marketing, Harpoon Brewery

Heavy Seas Beer

Halethorpe, MD

Heavy Seas Beer

Halethorpe, MD

Jameson-aged Beer: Caskmates Loose Cannon
Jameson-aged Beer Style: India Pale Ale

“We were part of the craft beer scene in Baltimore from the very beginning—starting in 1989 at my family’s brewpub, and in 1994 at the current brewery. At that time, we were focused on simply providing an alternative to “big American beer.” Who knew where things would take us over the next couple decades?

Our taproom has definitely added a community feeling that is very eclectic and inclusive, very fun and rewarding.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“All of our beers—even the hoppy ones—are known for having malty profiles. This enhances their drinkability and should complement the flavors of the whisky.”

Hugh Sisson

Founder, Heavy Seas Beer

Parish Brewing Co.

Broussard, LA

Parish Brewing Co.

Broussard, LA

Jameson-aged Beer: Parish Irish Coffee Stout
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Imperial Coffee Stout

“We created and brewed our first and flagship beer Canebrake because it was inspired by the sugarcane fields that we live in.

Our brewery is located right in the heart of Cajun country, and the people of our community are united in maintaining our unique cultural heritage through food, music, and way of life. We embrace it all and are proud to be a part of Cajun Louisiana.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“Our stouts are notoriously rich. We don’t brew weak beer here. The intense flavor of our stout will go well with the strong character of the barrel.”

Andrew Godley

Owner and Brew Master, Parish Brewing Co.

Revolution Brewing

Logan Square - Chicago, IL

Revolution Brewing

Logan Square - Chicago, IL

Jameson-aged Beer: Jamo-nilla
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Nitro Barrel-aged Imperial Stout

“My favorite part about being part of the Logan Square neighborhood is its lively and creative spirit. There is something for the foodie, metal head, and geek in all of us, not to mention the non-stop nightlife of Milwaukee Avenue to keep you grounded. Our neighborhood never sleeps or stops pushing boundaries, which can be seen throughout with its eclectic residents and murals! People love the work hard, play hard credo here more than anywhere else in the city!”

Glenn Allen

Brewery Manager, Revolution Brewing

River Horse Brewing Co.

Ewing, NJ

River Horse Brewing Company

Ewing, NJ

Jameson-aged Beer: River Horse Craic
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Imperial Dry Irish Stout

“I love how welcoming our neighborhood is and how supportive everyone is of us. I feel like the employees are a reflection of the neighborhood. You don’t just come to work and punch a clock; you’re a part of team, you’re a part of the future. Everyone is involved in tasting new beers, events and art work. I want to hear what they think. It’s not a one-man show. If it was…we’d have failed miserably.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“When we first tasted Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition, we were happily surprised at how smooth and light it tasted, and we loved the soft vanilla and oak notes that came through. We made our imperial stout with that in mind. So, what appears to be a dark and heavy beer rounds out nicely and is smooth and light, but at 9% abv.”

Chris Walsh

Owner, River Horse Brewing Co

Sly Fox Beer

Pottstown, PA

Sly Fox Beer

Pottstown, PA

Jameson-aged Beer: O’Reilly’s Extra Stout
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Export-Style Stout

“Sly Fox was started as a neighborhood brewpub by the Giannopoulos family in 1995. The brewery has grown over the years to include a tasting room and production brewery along with the initial pub and restaurant. The brewery still remains family owned and operated over 20 years later.

We are located just outside of Philadelphia, and, besides the amazing craft beer culture of the area, we love how welcoming and invested the people of Pottstown are. We’re always partnering with local organizations who are striving to improve our community for businesses and families alike.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“We formulated a special O’Reilly’s Extra Stout with pale and chocolate malts, roasted and flaked barley to create a smooth, rich beer that resulted in the perfect complement to Jameson Caskmates’ notes.”

Great Divide Brewing Co.

RiNo and Ballpark - Denver, CO

Great Divide Brewing Co.

RiNo and Ballpark - Denver, CO

Jameson-aged Beer: The Smoothness
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Dark Lager

“I started the brewery 23 years ago primarily because I love beer and beer culture. I believe that you should love your work, and it was the only profession that I thought that I would love to work in.

We made our name with big, bold, and assertive beers, and also for being one of the first craft breweries in Denver.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“We designed The Smoothness specifically to complement the whiskey. We weren’t just trying to create a crazy beer to show how wild you could get with a barrel. We really wanted to find a beer that would do well pulling from the whiskey notes left in the barrels from Ireland, and that would also complement another round of whiskey that would be aged in them afterwards. It’s called the Smoothness because it’s smooth, and we heard the crew in Ireland say Jameson is triple distilled for smoothness. The beer is rich, malty, mildly sweet, with notes of vanilla and oak. It’s basically the beer version of the whiskey.”

Brian Dunn

Founder & President, Great Divide Brewing Co.

Cigar City Brewing

Tampa, Fl

Cigar City Brewing

Tampa, Fl

Jameson-aged Beer: Beior Le Caife
Jameson-aged Beer Style: Brown Ale

“Cigar City Brewing was founded by Joey Redner to pay tribute to the unique culture, history, and cuisine of Florida. The names of our beers, many of the ingredients, and the story behind our brands all serve to acknowledge the things that make Florida such an exciting place. Tropical ingredients, local historical references, and an unwavering commitment to quality craft beer all make Cigar City Brewing unique.”

What about your beer complements Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition?

“Maduro Brown Ale boasts notes of chocolate, toffee and a hint of caramel. These flavors draw out and emphasize the analogous flavors in Jameson Caskmates Stout imparted by the unique stout barrel-aging process. Jameson Caskmates Stout is a moderate-bodied and nuanced whiskey that does not overwhelm the palate and allows the subtlety of Maduro Brown Ale to shine through.”
