WELCOME TO JAMESON HOSTS VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE

We can now bring our home, to yours. So, pull up a stool, armchair or sofa. We can’t wait to welcome you in. This first-of-its-kind one-hour virtual reality experience will take you inside Midleton Distillery to meet the Masters, who’ll give you the low-down on everything there is to know about our world-famous Irish whiskey.

How we hear you ask? Well, we’ve used a blend of standard video, state-of-the-art virtual 360° audio visuals and a physical sample pack. Just like our luscious liquid we’ve gone further here too. You’ll be immersed in a 4D multi-sensory experience that is both eye-opening and mouth-watering.

This educational experience was designed specifically for the Bar Community and caters to their need for in-depth, behind-the-scenes knowledge. It’s a money-can’t-buy experience but if you want to get your hands on it, follow us @JamesonHOSTS and watch out for upcoming competitions.

If you already have a VR headset for your phone, or even if you don’t and you just want to learn more about Irish Whiskey, simply scroll down the page reading all instructions and watching each video as you go.

You honestly don’t need VR glasses or the sample pack to enjoy the Irish whiskey education you are about to get.. but they certainly do take it to the next level.

Set-up

NEED STEP-BY-STEP SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS? TAP HERE.

In order for you to have the most vivid virtual reality experience possible, please follow teh below instrutions. If you are not using VR functionalit, you can skip ot teh next section.

We strongly (can’t stress the ‘STRONGLY’ enough here) recommend you USE A MODERN ANDROID PHONE FOR THE VR VIDEOS. Any model from the year 2020 onward should produce great results. Older models may result in a lack of visual clarity.
We recommend you use a combination of a computer and phone throughout this experience – a computer to navigate the website (and watch the standard videos) and a phone to view the 360 VR videos.
A strong WiFi signal or 4G also helps!

Now you’ve got all the best ingredients, you’re set.

STEP 1

SETTING UP YOUR PHONE FOR A SMOOTH EXPERIENCE

Install the Youtube app on your Android phone. *THIS IS ESSENTIAL!*
Increase your Android phones screen brightness to ‘Max’.
Increase your Android phones volume to ‘Max’ or better yet, use wireless headphones.
Scroll down to ‘Our Heritage’ section on site, scan the QR code with your Android phone’s camera and select link ‘open in Youtube app’. This is how you access the VR videos.
Once in the video, select settings (tap screen, 3 dots, top right), select quality and set to highest quality possible (note this may be hidden under ‘advanced’. Select ‘2160’ here or the highest resolution you can get). This will make a huge difference to feeling like you’re in our distillery versus looking at a blurry video.
Next, in settings, select ‘Watch in VR’ or you can select VR glasses icon bottom right.
(note: If split screens are spinning, power ‘off and on’ your iphone to fix error).
Finally, scroll back to the start of ‘Our Heritage’ section to continue your journey.

STEP 2

GETTING YOUR HEAD AROUND YOUR VR GLASSES

Open front cover of glasses and remove the lens protected film
Align and insert phone (landscape)
Adjust head straps (top & sides)
Note: use ‘Pupil Distance Adjustment Buttons’ (yes, we know it’s a mouthful) for focus while watching the video. You’ll find these sliders underneath the lenses.
Oh, if you wear prescription glasses, don’t worry, this VR headset is made for it.
Then sip back, and enjoy!

LET’S GO BACK IN TIME

The story of Jameson is over 240 years old. But before we go down memory lane with Jameson’s Head Archivist Carol Quinn, we need you to follow these steps carefully.

To make this part of your tour more enjoyable, take up position in your favourite seat in the house. One with a side table for your whiskey and VR glasses. Now pour yourself and Jameson original.

Our Taste

MATURATION WAREHOUSE TASTING

This is where we end our final 360° on a high. With our Master Distiller, Kevin O’Gorman surrounded by barrels stacked up to the roof and of course, the angel’s share. This one is a very special tasting that we’re excited to share with you.

If you have Jameson original & jameosn Black Barrel, pour yourself a small measure or each and grab yourself a small jug of water and a separate glass of water to open up the Whiskeys and cleanse the palate between tastings.

It’s important to lay these samples out in a way that’s easy to navigate, as you’ll be wearing the headset and won’t be able to see so take the time to familiarise yourself with your layout.
