Jameson’s Insider Tips for a Magical Christmas in Dublin

Ah, Christmas in Dublin. Whether it’s soaking in the carolling buskers on Grafton street, embracing the magic of a trip to the pub for an Irish Coffee and overdue catch-ups with old friends, or that last minute dash to get that present you forgot, there’s something special about this time of year and there’s always so many Christmas things to do in Dublin.

Jameson is proud to play a special role in Christmas for so many. Whether it’s the bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey that Dad always requests, the clink of your glasses as you toast in the local on Christmas eve, or the annual Hot Toddy after you’ve gone through all the leftovers on St. Stephen’s Day—we take Christmas seriously, and we want to share some of our top tips for soaking in the magical Christmas spirit in Dublin this winter. So grab your Jameson Christmas jumper, read on, and get ready to make the most of this special season.

Drop by Dublin’s Christmas Markets

The epitome of that Christmas feeling is hitting up the Christmas markets in Dublin, and we’re lucky that there are so many to choose from and that our favourite Dublin markets are returning for another year. Whether you’re looking for something in the city centre, you’re willing to travel out to Howth Castle, Swords Castle, the Botanic Gardens or Wild Lights in Dublin Zoo, there’s something for everyone’s taste. If you’re looking for something to really make an evening of it, you can’t go wrong with booking tickets to see the Dublin Gospel Choir, now that is a special Christmas experience.

When it comes to the best Christmas markets in Dublin, in our humble opinion, here are our top two. First up is of course the pinnacle of Christmas markets located in Dublin Castle. This festive spot runs from December 8th until December 21st, leaving you plenty of time to catch it before it’s gone. Now if you’re only free on the weekends and you’re looking for something nestled in nature, we’d have to recommend the Phoenix Park Christmas market in Farmleigh, open 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday from December 2nd through to December 17th, it’s a great choice for a lazy Sunday or Christmas cheer-filled Saturday.

Enjoy Dublin’s Christmas Party Scene

For those of you who like to toast the Christmas spirit with a glass of your favourite Jameson spirityou’ve come to the right place (Dublin and this article). If you’re ready to don those sparkles, root out the Christmas jumper and make great memories while catching up with friends in the pub for an enjoyable Christmas drink, then Dublin is a fantastic place to do just that.

Many of you know the tradition of ‘12 pubs of Christmas’, well in Dublin you’re treated to so much more than that. There are so many pubs, experiences and nights out to explore in the city, or you can get cosy at home with your mates and bring the Christmas spirit to you with our Holiday Cocktails like a Merry Berry Punch or, if you’re after unintentional Christmas cocktails, a Classic Old Fashioned. Now that’s the Christmas spirit.

Drop by the Must-Visit Shops and Streets

Is there anything better than pulling up your scarf as you stroll through the buzzing streets of Dublin? You can hear carols being sung amongst the lights in Temple Bar or you see the now iconic lights turn on across Grafton Street and bring that great Christmas atmosphere with them, there’s just something really special about this time of the year—it’s like a winter wonderland of fun and excitement.

If you’re in town a bit early when you’re heading for one with a mate or you’re looking for the perfect gift for someone special, Dublin is lined with shops and streets worth exploring. There are so many things to do in Dublin at Christmas, and sometimes they’re right under your nose—whether you’re doing your shop at the Christmas market or the main street.

Delve into Musical Delights with Christmas Concerts in Dublin

For those of you after a bit of culture with your Christmas spirit, you’re in for a treat, there are concerts and performances happening all over Dublin this Christmas. The top two we’d recommend you go get your tickets for are the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Choir and all the different events on in the National Concert Hall, like their yearly Christmas concert. While both venues hold brilliant shows all year round, their Christmas concerts are a must-see.

If you’re in the mood for a bit more craic, then your culture-filled Christmas concerts experience is happening in pubs all over the city—yep, we’re talking about good ‘ole trad music. Live music is one of the best parts of a night out any time of the year, but there’s something about belting out The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl in a pub off the beaten track that hits different.

A Worthy Spotlight on Dublin Castle and Winter Wonderland

We know we’ve mentioned it before, but we couldn’t let you finish this article without really selling in the Christmas spectacle that is winter wonderland at Dublin Castle. Not only can you sip on your favourite winter warmer and stroll through the markets on offer, the Dublin Castle lights are a sight to be seen. Whether you’re heading down with the family, meeting up with your mates or looking for the perfect Christmas date spot, this Dublin winter wonderland is at the top of our list.
