Oktoberfest or Oktoberbest?

Why does a whiskey want to be part of a festival famous for beer? Well, we’re not ones for jumping on the bandwagon but beer is part of who we are. Yes, you read that right. Until that first distillation, we’re basically a beer. But why let the cat out of the barrel now? One word (ok, it’s two words joined together). Caskmates. And we’ll come to it in a second.

Want to sound like you know what you’re talking about this Oktoberfest? Here’s a top one-liner to drop into conversation with your mates. Oktoberfest is the world’s largest and most famous Volksfest. Still thirsty for more? Read on.

Whiskey & beer or beer & whiskey?

Jameson Caskmates

While beer raises its frothy head during our whiskey making process, we’ve seen it play a more important role at the end of our process of late. In 2015, we launched Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition. The rest has been a short, but rich (with chocolately notes) history. To see how it really went down, just watch our video.

Here’s some pairing suggestions that go down a treat with our Caskmates family.

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition

Stout A light stout should enhance the whiskey’s sweetness, but not overpower it.

Wheat Beer – Pair with a beer with high sourness, medium bitterness and sweetness.

Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition

IPA A less malted and more subtle IPA allows the whiskey to shine.

Pale Ale – A hoppy pale ale with juicy citrus notes is the perfect pairing.

Imperial / Double IPA This combination pairs overtly hoppy and malty notes.

Happy Oktoberfest & hoppy sipping.
