The Midleton Distillery in Midleton, Co. Cork, Ireland, has long been synonymous with Irish whiskey excellence. This year marks its 200-year distilling heritage, and it’s where everyone’s favourite Irish whiskey is made. Any guesses? It’s triple distilled and exceptionally smooth? Yes! Correct.

Midleton Distillery is where the world’s most awarded Irish whiskey, Jameson, is made, along with its family of revered Irish whiskey brands, including, Redbreast, Spot Whiskeys, Powers, Method & Madness, and the highly sought after Midleton Very Rare.

However, the new news isn’t the amazing brands crafted at Midleton Distillery or even our 200-year anniversary…
We are very excited to announce that Midleton Distillery has been crowned Most Awarded International Distillery at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) – an accolade widely regarded as the world’s highest blind‑tasting honour for fine spirits.

This recognition is bestowed upon an international distillery that has achieved the most coveted prizes (the prizes – plural) at the SFWSC, where the competition is fierce and the competitors are many.

Across beloved labels such as Jameson, Redbreast, Powers, Midleton Very Rare, Spot Whiskeys and Method & Madness range, 37 of our whiskeys collected medals, including:

19 Double Golds,

9 Golds,

7 Platinum Awards,

8 Best‑of‑Class finalists

These high honours were secured in a field of more than 1,600 whiskeys from 73 countries assessed by 64 expert judges (we told you the competition was fierce).

As you might imagine, this crown was not earned overnight. It is the culmination of 200 years of patient craft. Through the years, coopers, mash operators, distillers, blenders and warehouse teams have handed down their skills and knowledge to the next generation. It has taken lifetimes to reach this point in history. Today, a tradition of quiet dedication and focus on delivering spirit of the highest calibre, transforms barley, maize, water water from the Dungourney River and carefully sourced oak casks into many excellent triple distilled Irish whiskeys – whiskeys like Jameson.

It’s this commitment to heritage, quality and expertise that has always been Midleton Distillery’s raison d’être, and it has been key to winning Most Awarded International Distillery 2025. The nine Platinum Awards received this year are reserved only for spirits that have earned Double Gold three years in succession, underlining that Midleton’s mastery of whiskey is not only historic, but stubbornly consistent, year after year.
