This is a good question and one we are asked quite a bit so hope this clarifies things a little...The Old Jameson Distillery in Dublin is located on the site of the original Whiskey distillery founded by John Jameson in 1780. Whiskey distilling ceased on this site in the early 1970's and visitors are treated to a recreated distillery scene in Ireland's bustling capital. Our visitor centre in Midleton is located on the site of the Jameson distillery however visitors do not have access to the working distillery, sorry folks! You will however be able to explore the site of the Old Midleton Distillery which explains the history and craft of producing Jameson Irish Whiskey; a very special experience indeed. How to enjoy JamesonWhat is the best way to drink Jameson; neat or with water?
Now we don't want you to think we're sitting on the fence here but we believe that there is no right or a wrong way to drink Jameson. The millions already converted are relaxed about where, when and how they enjoy this tripled distilled Irish whiskey. The most popular ways in which people mix it up are with ginger ale and a wedge of lime, cranberry juice or cola. In saying this, our master distillers recommend adding a drop of water to release the full flavours of the whiskey when drinking it neat.What is the alcoholic strength of a measure of Jameson Irish Whiskey?
Today we define alcoholic strength in terms of percentage alcohol by volume (ABV). In the United States measurement is defined in terms of proof. A bottle and indeed a measure of Jameson is 40% alcohol by volume.What age is the whiskey in a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey?
Now this is an important one! Legally Irish Whiskey must be matured on the island of Ireland for a minimum of 3 years. Jameson is, however, matured for between 5 and 7 years.
